The MGH York Farm

Metrolina Greenhouses purchased the York facility in 2013, acquiring it from perennials pioneer Louis Stacy, previously operating as Stacy’s Greenhouses. The deal expanded our assortment with an entirely new growing category as the demand for perennials increased. It also added 12 acres of greenhouses and more than 120 acres of outdoor production to Metrolina’s operations. The company began to foster a culture of knowledge sharing between locations, applying best practices and creating a new, improved “Metrolina way.”

From 2021 to 2022, the York facility completed 90 acres of outdoor growing space and 3 acres of cold frame greenhouses. In 2024, it added 12 acres of shade and 2.5 acres of additional cold frames. Focused primarily on the production of perennials and shrubs, the campus now includes nearly 200 acres of growing space, including 140 acres of full-sun growing space, 25 acres of shade production, and 17 acres of greenhouses.
